I hear you saying. . .”What?”
What does this mean and what does it mean for your website?
PHP 7.4 goes end of life (EOL) on the 28 November 2022. What is EOL? EOL stands for End of Life and what it basically means is that all known security flaws will no longer be fixed and sites will be exposed to significant security vulnerabilities. What does that mean for your website? Well, it means it is important to update your PHP version to PHP 8.0 before that date.
Compatibility Issues
It’s not you, its the PHP.
New major PHP versions bring with them a number of new features and some incompatibilities. These should be tested before switching PHP versions otherwise you may face your website crashing or losing some functionality.
It is important to note that if you are hosted with Xneelo, they will no longer be supporting earlier versions after October 2022.
As security updates for older PHP versions have ended, we will no longer support these versions on our hosting platform. If your website is still making use of PHP 7.4, it will automatically be upgraded to PHP 8.0 from 3 October 2022.
