On July 21, 2014 Facebook introduced the new “save” function whereby users of Facebook could save links, places, music, movies and TV items that they could view at a later stage.
We can, perhaps, relate to the wish of saving something for later in a place that we could find it after reading something on our mobile while on the go or in between meetings. When we go back later, we can’t remember where we read it or what page shared it.

Every day, people find all sorts of interesting items on Facebook that they don’t have time to explore right away. Now you can save items that you find on Facebook to check out later when you have more time. You can save items like links, places, movies, TV and music. Only you can see the items you save unless you choose to share them with friends.
You can view the items you saved at any time by going to your saved items in the “More” tab on mobile or by clicking the link on the left hand side of Facebook on the web.
Your saved items list is organized by category and you can swipe right on each item to share it with your friends or move it into your archive list.
Facebook will also give you gentle reminders when you have items in your saved tab which only you can access (unless you share items with your friends).

How does this new function on Facebook affect me and my Business?
Well, in simple terms, we need to ensure that our posts are more “save-able” or are more appealing to save. If we get this right, we will have more interaction on our site and in turn more “people talking about” our page…and so it has a knock on effect…more page visits can increase website traffic and expand our client database.
Secondly, ensure that the details of your business that appear online are correct and that you have a business Facebook page for your business and not a personal profile for your business. This is especially essential for places such as restaurants, entertainment areas, B&B’s, etc. This will help people find you!
How do I make my posts more “save-able”?
Think about what would make you want to save a post? There has to be more than a cute puppy or “Good Morning”. Inspirational quotes, links to your blog (good for traffic and client conversion) with eye-catching “need-to-know” more titles or (if you are an artist) a link to a sneak peak of your new song/movie/design with more information and competitions are all good ways to get Facebook users to click “save”.
Start by using the “save” function on Facebook yourself and see what you save!
